10 Random but true facts

So yesterday afternoon I spent a few hours searching the web for some cool facts. I was not disappointed by what I found, there were so many it was hard to choose! Below I found 10 random, unusual but very true facts that sparked my interest…

  1. In 1952 the first toy was advertised on TV. This toy was none other that Mr Potato Head!

  2. Disney’s 7 dwarfs from Snow White were apparently originally considered as; Chesty, Tubby, Burpy, Deafy, Hickey, Wheezy and Awful. Bonus fact- there were also supposedly 16 dwarfs not 7.

  3. The Guinness Book of Records holds it’s own record of being ‘The Most often Stolen from Public libraries’.

  4. If you sneeze hard enough you can actually fracture a rib!

  5. If you already didn’t know Wales has their own language (Welsh). In the Welsh alphabet the letters; K, Q, V and X do not appear.

  6. Deep breath! Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, is the longest name of a place in the world. Yes it is an actual place in North Wales.

  7. In the original Beauty and the Beast, Beauty was one of six children. Her father was not an inventor and Beauty had two very selfish sisters who got turned to stone at the end of the story.

  8. In Indonesia there is a volcano that erupts blue lava. Kawah Ijen volcano is situated in East Java. From its levels of ‘molten sulphur’ the lava appears red in the day time but at night is actually blue.

  9. According to Science, the left side of our brain control the right side of our bodies. The left side of our brain controls the right.

  10. Last but not least! An Octopus has 3 hearts and 9 brains! No wonder they are escape artists.
