Self care Sunday

Taking Sunday's out to care for ourselves..

Its a gloomy Sunday early afternoon here in Wales, the rain is pouring down and i'm tucked up on the sofa home alone. I have a very busy week ahead full of different appointments, a lunch date with my best friend, and 4 outstanding assignments. Just thinking about it i'm exhausted.

Sunday is my day where I write everything down that I have to do that coming week, to help declutter my mind, and take time out to de-stress ready for any challenges ahead.

It is important that we take time out to de-stress and get our mind back into focus. The working week can leave us feeling rather exhausted and tense, its important to look after ourselves when we feel like this for our own sanity.

By taking this time to recharge it helps bring our mind to focus and can help us feeling revived and ready for the week.

Self care can come in many different forms, it can be a simple ten minutes away from everything with your favourite drink, for me its hot chocolate. Just taking 10 simple minutes out and taking the time to enjoy my drink makes my stress melt away.

It could be going out for a short walk around your area or to a local park, I very much enjoy going out into nature and enjoying the scenery, listening to the sounds of nature.

What can we do to take some self care time for ourselves?? Here are twenty quick and simple ideas to get you started...

  • Cook your favourite meal.

  • Take a nap.

  • Take a hot shower.

  • Relax with some tea and read a blog, a chapter of book, or watch your favourite program.

  • Write down things that are on your mind.. (Journaling)

  • Curl up on a sofa with a book or watch a movie.

  • Make a playlist of your favourite songs.

  • Spend the say in your PJ's.

  • Call a friend or family member and check in with them.

  • Write a list of things to do, to help declutter your mind.

  • Write a letter to your future self.

  • Try some colouring! ( I do this, its a great thing to switch your mind off from the world).

  • Watch some funny videos on you tube.

  • If you have the energy, why not do some meal prep to save time in the week?

  • Learn a new skill

  • Learn a new language-I've started taking 5 minutes out a day to learn some Welsh!

  • Do a 10 minute declutter. Set a timer for 10 minutes and declutter as much as you can in one selected area in that time. It makes the space look better and leaves you feeling accomplished.

  • Social detox- Get rid of anything or anyone who makes you feel negative on your social media. Follow some more positive groups or pages.

  • Take a shower and put on your comfy clothes.

  • Eat a sweet treat. Your favourite snack, pudding or ice cream!
